Nepal Information

As the country is connected to the world and on its globalization it has the diplomatic missions; Embassy and consular in other countries. The travelers can get Nepal entry visa from the Embassy of Nepal in her/his country. However the government of Nepal has providing the Entry Visa to the traveler at Tribhuvan International Airprot on their arrival. Other than Chinese Nationals are not included on this provision is supposed to apply for the visa only in Nepal Embassy. If travelers are entering the country in through overland tour from neighboring country, the immigration office will manage the visa for them on their arrival. Though the provisions for visa procedure is as mentioned above is normal, but issuing visa is not mandatory to all circumstances.

Kathmandu the capital city of Nepal is connected by air with London, Frankfurt, Paris, Karachi, Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dhaka, Moscow, Lhasa, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Varanasi, Patna, Paro (Bhutan), Vienna, Amsterdam, Munich, Shanghai, Osaka.

At present, besides the National Flag carrier Royal Nepal Airlines, Aeroflot Soviet Airlines, Biman Bangladesh, China Southwest Airlines, Condor, Druk Air, Gulf Air, Indian Airlines, Lauda Air, Pakistan International Airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways International, and Transavia operates their direct flights to Kathmandu.

Nationals of SAARC countries and China do not need visa when visiting Nepal.
Other visitors do not need visa to be in Nepal for three days. Visa must be obtained for staying over the initial period of three days. Free visa is to be given to tourists for re-entry to Nepal provided they stay at least for 15 days in the country in that visa year.
I) Single entry to Nepal for 60 days from the date of entry is USD 30 or equivalent convertible foreign or Nepali currency.
II) Multiple entries for one year visa is US $ 50 plus US $ 30 for single entry or equivalent convertible foreign or Nepali currency.

# For Sri Lankan pilgrims visiting Lumbini, a single entry visa for 15 days is US $10 or equivalent convertible currency.
The visitors who wish to stay for more than 60 days in Nepal can extend their tourist visa by paying US $ 30 or equivalent convertible foreign or Nepali currency for 30 days from the Department of Immigration.

# For foreign investors business visa with multiple entry facility for a period of one year and five years can be obtained from the Department of Immigration on the recommendation of Department of Industry and Commerce by paying US $ 100 and US $ 250 or equivalent convertible foreign or Nepali currency.

As per the rule, Indian nationals do not require visa. However, effective from October 2000, Indians traveling to Nepal by air have to show upon arrival at entry point a valid photo identity like a passport, voter's identity or an identify card issued by the Indian government. Temporary identity card with photographs issued by Nepal-based Indian diplomatic missions is considered in case of exception. Children under 10 years need not show any identification.

Besides the above, Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal are linked with motorable roads.
A visa is required to enter Nepal. One can get a visa at the Royal Nepalese Embassy or Consulate or at the Kathmandu airport or at any entry points on arrival except for Chinese citizen who are requested to apply in Royal Nepalese Embassy or other Nepalese diplomatic missions as there is no provision of on arrival visa. Children under 10 yrs need not pay any visa fees. Two passport sized photos are mandatory for visa on arrival.

06. Nepalgunj, Jamunnaha (Mid Western Nepal- India border)
07. Dhangadi, Mohana (Far Western Nepal-India border)
