International Dhaulagiri 8,167m Expedition 2010, Dhaulagiri Expedition

Dhaulagiri, the white mountain was first climbed by the Swiss in 1960. the name of the mountain is derived from Sanskrit “dhavala – means white “ and “giri – means Mountain”. The enormous massif of Dhaulagiri is located in the northern central part of Nepal. The survey of Mt. Dhaulagiri was by British first and was supposed the highest mountain in the world till 1800s. The illusion remained as it is till 1848 A.D. In 1953 French team got permission to climb either Annapurna or Dhaulagiri and the team decided to climb Dhaulagiri after its reconnaissance. But, of the lack of enough technical idea many group failed but the Swiss team in 1960 got success on summiting the top. The climbing team followed a circuitous route around the mountain from Tukuche, over Dhampus Pass, French Col to approach the summit from the North – East Col. Following the successful Dhaulagiri Expedition, Japanese team in 1970, American team in 1973 and in 1976 Italian team made the successful adventure expedition. since the time the successfurl Dhaulagiri Expedition is one after another.

Afternoon to dawn the area is almost windy with remarkable velocity. Most Challenges High Passes ( French pass height 5360m. and Dampus pass 5258m)on the route to base camp is tremoundous.
